We are designed for vulnerability. That means privacy is not a legal checkbox for us. It is the product.
We do not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifying information to use Afterpour.
We do not collect IP addresses that are linked to letter content. We do not store facial geometry from Face ID. We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone. We do not serve behavioural advertising.
Letter content: When you write a letter and choose to cast it to the Ocean, the text is stored on our servers after being stripped of all identifiers detected by our anonymisation layer. Letters cast to the Ocean may be visible to other users. Letters sent to the Sanctuary Vault are encrypted with your device key and we cannot read them. Letters processed through the Ash Ritual are permanently deleted from our servers within 60 seconds of the ritual completing.
Approximate location: If you enable it, we use coarse location (city-level) to show confessions "from someone near you." This is optional and never linked to a specific letter.
Anonymous analytics: We collect aggregate, non-identifiable usage statistics to improve the app. These are never linked to individuals.
Subscription data: If you subscribe, your payment is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive only a subscription status token — not your card number or billing details.

When you use the AI Closure Mirror, your anonymised letter content is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a response. This transmission is encrypted in transit. We do not permit our AI provider to train models on your letter content. Responses are generated and discarded — we do not retain a log of Mirror conversations beyond your active session unless you explicitly save them.
Ocean letters are retained for a rolling 12-month period, after which they are permanently deleted. You may delete your own letter at any time from within the app.
Sanctuary Vault letters exist only on your device in encrypted form. Deleting the app deletes them permanently.
Ash Ritual letters are deleted immediately upon completion of the ritual animation.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you have the right to access, correct, export, or request deletion of any data associated with your device. Because we do not collect identifying information by default, exercising these rights may require you to provide your anonymous session token, which is stored locally on your device.

You retain ownership of any content you write. By casting a letter to the Ocean, you grant Afterpour a limited, non-exclusive licence to display that content anonymously to other users of the Service for the retention period described in our Privacy Policy.

Afterpour offers in-app subscriptions (Soul, Annual Patron) processed securely through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. All billing, refunds, and cancellation policies are governed by the applicable platform's terms.
We offer a 7-day free trial for the Soul subscription tier. You may cancel at any time before the trial ends without charge. Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law or platform policy.
Price changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance via in-app notification.
